Sampling

In biostatistical applications, statistical inference is used to make generalizations or inferences about unknown population parameters. These inferences about the population are based on what we observe in the study sample.   In this course, we outline different methods for sampling individuals from a source population into a study sample.  

At the end of this course, learners will be able to:

• Distinguish between probability sampling and non-probability sampling
• Describe popular probability sampling methods, along with their advantages and disadvantages 
• Describe popular non-probability sampling methods, along with their advantages and disadvantages
